Making art or looking at art? Pretty big difference.
If we’re talking about making art, then I’ll suggest “fun” simply isn’t the right word.
As a casual thing to just do, then perhaps. As a professional artist? Not really.
But in either case, “rewarding” might be better. For the professional artist, then add passion, satisfaction, expression to what is found productive about making art.
In fact, most professional artists I know would suggest it’s not “fun”. The minute anything is a profession it becomes work. Rewarding work. Yet work.
And some will say they make art because they “must”.
Then go ask some art students about the incredible stress of making art in art school attempting to satisfy arbitrary (subjective) demands of professors. Many would suggest it’s not much fun at all.
What about looking at art? Certainly for me “fun” isn’t the operative. But I look at art to see, learn, feel, engage, encounter. So it’s rewarding, interesting, thought provoking. So for me “fun” (which sounds like an amusement park ride) isn’t what I’d say about art.
All that said, truth is whether art is “fun” or not is different for different people.
